'Bale Is Better Than Cristiano & Messi'

The former Fulham, Coventry and Sociedad chief laughed as it was put to him ahead of Wednesday's semi-final clash with Portugal, and said: "I don't think I'd be offered it but it's not something that would ever, ever enter my thinking. I'm a Welshman through and through", said Coleman.

"In this game, it's not like I need to pull my defenders aside and say: 'This team we're playing, they've got a guy up front and his name's Cristiano Ronaldo and he does this, that and the other.' Because they already know", he said.

Now 25 years of age, Aaron Ramsey is approaching the peak years of his career and his performances at the European Championships have perhaps increased his value and importance to his current club, whilst also alerting other clubs to his undoubted potential.

Chris Coleman has insisted that his history-making Wales side have nothing to fear and no reason to panic.

Ramsey was instrumental as Wales came from behind to stun Belgium and claim a 3-1 win in Friday's quarter-final at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. "Eden Hazard gets the ball and starts bouncing it with his hand and doesn't get a yellow card", Coleman said. My next job after Wales, whenever that is, will be somewhere maybe overseas. "I normally train next to the best, and that's Bale". But to manage another country?

In contrast with Wales, who have won four out of five games in the tournament, Portugal drew all three group matches and have been taken to extra-time by Croatia and penalties by Poland.

"I think it will be a hard game against Wales, they are very organised in midfield and we have to be careful with some of their players but also concentrate on our game".

The message to the players, Coleman revealed, is that they must play with "no fear" because "there's nothing to be afraid of".

He admitted that Portugal had yet to produce their best form but believed they could go all the way to the final.

"I can't guarantee a result".

"When you're talking about Champions League football in the Premier League, you're talking about the top clubs - the massive clubs".

If Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are to get the best out of Ramsey then perhaps a change in system is needed to accommodate more than one attacking midfielder, although this seems unlikely given Wenger's stubbornness. "It's our time and we look forward to the semi-final". The time is not now.

"If we go into the next game and think this tournament is so nice and it is great and haven't we done so well, Portugal will turn us over", he said.
