Pokémon Go players are walking shelter dogs in Indiana

The shelter has released a poster inviting Pokemon trainers to come to the shelter and walk one of their dogs in order to get their steps.

If you're an enthusiastic Pokemon Go player, there's an IN animal shelter that wants your help.

The Muncie Animal Shelter started the volunteer program Tuesday after the shelter director, Phil Peckinpaugh, was inspired by his 6-year-old daughter, Ruthie, and his 7-year-old nephew, who both play the game, ABC News reported. People are out and about catching them all (or attempting to) and some animal shelters are using America's latest obsession for a great cause: getting homeless animals adopted.

The idea is "to combine the new influx of people walking around the city with the shelter's need for dog walkers". If we can get volunteers and adoptions, that's been the number one goal.

Will Vancouver's suburbs follow suit with an empty homes tax?
Jensen said there's no point in waiting until Oak Bay is in the same crisis situation as is Vancouver before taking action. A recent city-commissioned study found that about 10,800 homes were left empty for a year or more, majority condominiums.

Peckinpaugh says he hopes it's not just a passing fad. Just, make sure you're paying attention to WHERE you're going!

Peckinpaugh said about 75 adoptable dogs can be taken out for walks. "I hope people step up to help this happy shelter with their energetic pups".

Also taking advantage of the craze is Muncie Animal Shelter in Indiana.

And even if you live nowhere near Muncie, there's a good chance your local animal shelter would be happy to have you volunteer to bring a dog out on your pursuit of Zubats.
