NEO release date: Sony gearing up for September BONANZA

by Linda Olson August 11, 2016, 0:38

Sony is getting ready to unveil its latest PlayStation console and has already begun to send invitations to a New York City press conference scheduled for the 7 of September. In general the PlayStation 4 Neo will support 4K displays and "richer graphics", meanwhile PlayStation VR will work with either console.

Sony did not confirm that the PlayStation Meeting will be about the new PlayStation Neo console, but most industry insider assume that.

We'll hopefully have more news to share in the days to come, as September 7 gets closer day after day and Sony's strategies become clearer. (The PlayStation 4 itself wasn't shown at its announcement event in February 2013; Sony opted to just show gameplay and reveal the hardware at E3.) Instead, Vice is reporting the event will be a "technical showcase", where we'll see gameplay. Microsoft announced at the E3 that the Xbox Project Scorpio console has 6 Teraflops of performance compared to 1.31 Teraflops the Xbox One is offering. The "PlayStation Meeting" will take place in NY in September 7.

Neo won't have its own exclusives. Rumored names are PlayStation Neo, PlayStaton 4.5 and PlayStation 4K.

The Census Website Has Crashed And Everyone's Losing It
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull had tweeted on Tuesday morning he had completed the census and it was "easy to do". On Friday, Libreri said 200,000 households had already opted to submit their forms early.

Kotaku's Patrick Klepek first reported on rumours of an upgraded PlayStation 4 - codenamed "Neo" - in March.

The company has insisted that releasing the new model will not leave the original PS4 behind, stating that the majority of games will be playable on both the current and upgraded iterations of the PS4.

Sony's PlayStation VR headset is expeected to debut in October and the new console may become available some time in 2017.

The higher-end console PS4 Neo, also called the PS4.5, PS4.5 Neo and the PS4K, was tipped off early this year in the reports.
