Michelle Obama attacks Trump's temperament, birther past in Pennsylvania stump

Given her sky-high approval rating among the American people, even when compared to her husband's, the Clinton campaign clearly views the first lady as a valuable surrogate, with Clinton's even quoting her during the debate Monday night against Donald Trump. "No, we need an adult in the White House, I guarantee you". At his news conference and later, Trump falsely blamed the birther movement on Hillary Clinton and her advisers.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Michelle Obama told a diverse and enthusiastic crowd in Philadelphia on Wednesday that candidates don't change once they become president and that America "needs an adult in the White House".

"Experience matters, preparation matters, temperament matters", Obama said.

"As someone who has seen the presidency up close and personal, let me share with you what I've learned about this job - lessons that seem even more relevant, even more critical and important now", she said. "Hillary Clinton has it all".

Referring to Trump only as Clinton's "opponent", the first lady slammed the billionaire developer for his "erratic" behavior and years of questions about her husband's birthplace. "It isn't about voting for the ideal candidate".

As campaign season is heating up and their political tenures coming to an end, the First Lady and Vice President are making their rounds to support their choice for the next president.

"The stakes are far too high", she said.

Obama told the audience here that her husband had faced "hurtful, deceitful questions deliberately created to undermine his presidency".

The Clinton campaign says he will launch a voter-registration drive and urge Pennsylvanians to register to vote.

There was also the time she casually brought up Trump's reality TV background.

Later Wednesday, she appeared at a rally for the Democratic presidential nominee at the University of Pittsburgh, where she changed the wording to "grown-up".
