Twitter Drops Mentions from Tweet Limit

Twitter has once again tinkered with tweets to free up more space within the 140-character limit. According to the post, Twitter is constantly looking for ways to make the site more user-friendly and helpful, and this is definitely a small but efficient way of doing that. The company earlier said that it had been working on new ways to let users express more without raising 140 character limit. With this change, the Twitter usernames of the people you are replying to will appear above the tweet text rather than in the Tweet itself.

To view or adjust the people included in a conversation, tap or click "Replying to".

As we read, just touch the "Reply to" button to answer any tweet applying this novelty, but from now on, the tweet you respond will be at the top of our tweet.

Rumor mills have been cranking up since the past year predicting that Twitter will do away with its 140 character limit.

The company Is rigid about sticking with the same 140 character limit it has had for the past 10 years.

Providing more room in tweets is seen as a way to encourage more use and sharing of pictures, videos and links. INC acknowledge removing replies from the character limit is a step in the right direction but said it doesn't solve the problem of getting new users to join the social network. He added that in the tests performed to check the new features, it was found that people engage more with conversations on Twitter. "I'm excited to see even more dialog because of this".

Twitter, no doubt, has been busy beefing up its services of late. For example, you must have received a notification where a user in your friends list tags you in a photo, which you later discover has no one but himself in it.

They have contributed to an ongoing dilemma: Stalled growth. While Twitter was touting it's the third time it has moved to expand the character limit since Jack Dorsey came back to the helm, some argued the character limit will continue to limit its growth.

Twitter has been struggling to get on a path of higher revenue as its user growth is declining, along with its grim advertising revenue.
