Storm kills 2 in Louisiana; state put on 'high alert'

The First Alert 25 Weather Team is tracking the potential for severe weather across Central Texas between Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Strong thunderstorms could accumulate in the afternoon on Sunday, Goudsward said, cautioning that a lot may change in the forecast between now and then.

Isolated tornadoes, large hail and winds up to 70 miles per hour are possible in western and northern Arkansas. The center has put the Brazos Valley at a 4 or "moderate risk" for today. Some of the thunderstorms could produce localized flooding. Heavy rain capable of causing flash flooding is also a major concern with these storms.

Hector Guerrero, Warning and Coordination Meteorologist, said there was a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms throughout the day on Saturday; however, that chance will increase to 60 percent in the evening hours. Excessive rainfall is also expected, with 3-6 inches or more falling in many areas by Monday morning.

Part of metro Atlanta and North Georgia are under a severe weather advisory.

Straight-line winds reported along with this storm system are the equivalent of those associated with a Category 2 hurricane, Edwards said.
