Israel military says Palestinian killed Israeli in West Bank

Israeli occupation forces have arrested around 300 Palestinian children since the start of this year, majority from occupied Jerusalem, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club (PPC) said Tuesday.

A Palestinian man carried out a car-ramming next to a bus stop near a settlement in the occupied West Bank yesterday, killing an Israeli soldier and wounding another, officials said.

The PPC also renewed its call for global human rights groups, including UNICEF, to strengthen initiatives and campaigns to protect Palestinian children. Most of the Palestinians killed have been identified as attackers by Israeli authorities.

Over the past two weeks, however, the frequency of the Palestinian attacks seems to be on the rise again.

Some Israeli media reported that the casualties were soldiers but the Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson's Unit said it can not confirm this information.

Hamas and the Islamic Jihad were quick to praise the attack.

On the remembrance of the Land Day, the Israeli occupation violations against Palestinians continue, in terms of land confiscation, demolition of buildings (housing units and establishments) and forcible displacement of residents.

Israeli security forces stand guard at the site of a vehicle ramming attack outside the Israeli settlement of Ofra, north of the Palestinian city of Ramallah, on April 6, 2017.

The military said Thursday's assault took place near the settlement of Ofra and that the Palestinian was apprehended after the attack.

Five days ago, Israeli paramilitary police officers shot dead a Palestinian after he stabbed three Israelis in Jerusalem's Old City.

Witnesses told local media at the time they found more than 25 bullet holes in Ghazal's apartment, and accused Israeli forces of "executing" him when they could have easily detained him.

The violence has greatly subsided in recent months.

It was the first fatal attack on Israelis since January 8, when a Palestinian killed four soldiers in a Jerusalem truck-ramming attack.

The site is holy to both Muslims and Jews and is located in occupied East Jerusalem. It also calls for adherence to UN General Assembly Resolution 194, interpreted by Arab states to validate the so-called "right of return" of Palestinians to Israel.
