They attributed the BJP's recent victories in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand assembly polls to these poor-centric policies of the Central government.

A meeting of the top NDA leaders will be held in New Delhi today and representatives of 32 parties are likely to attend it.

Leaders of 31 NDA allies, including the new friends the saffron party won over in Goa and northeastern states, will attend the meeting after BJP president Amit Shah reached out to them.

The minister further said that new allies have joined the NDA and that this was a measure of the government's popularity. Mr Jaitley said, the schemes being implemented by the NDA government at the Centre for the welfare of the poor are being supported by the people in the country. "He will be the face banking on whom the party will go for the 2017 Gujarat elections", a senior state BJP leader said.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi an "elder brother", signalling a thaw in the frosty ties between the Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He said, the government led by Mr Modi has worked towards the growth of the country's economy in hard times and also strengthening the federal structure of the country.

Raiders headed to Vegas
I support Mark Davis and whatever he must do, but I think there remains the opportunity to rescind this whole move. Their new stadium in Las Vegas won't be ready until 2020.

This will be the first time Uddhav will meet Modi and Shah in Delhi after attending the Union Cabinet's swearing-in ceremony in May 2014, sources in the Sena told The Indian Express. Besides, considering the upcoming presidential election, names of the most aspirants candidates for the post of president and vice president will also be discussed in the conference.

He also urged the allies to consider convening the assembly in their respective states for a day to fix individual development agenda for the next five years.

"The NDA allies also passed a resolution to work together to win a second term under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Modi in 2019", he said.

TDP Chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that India needs a stable government for sustainable development. The BJP's oldest pro-Hindutva ally was seen playing the hard ball over the issue so far.

"India is only economy which can achieve double digit growth. There was not a single corruption charge against the government in its last three years' reign", he said.
