Introducing New Nintendo 2DS XL

The new Nintendo 2DS XL launches on July 28 at a retail price of $149.99. While the original 2DS was smaller and removed the clamshell design of the 3DS, the new 2DS moves over to the XL clamshell design.

The 2DS XL therefore counts as the sixth iteration of the hardware, and it basically merges the 2DS and New 3DS XL. To put simply, it plays Nintendo DS and 3DS games and SNES games on the Nintendo eShop. Even more impressive than sales of the Switch have been sales of its top game, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It will allow players to play 3DS games. Portable Nintendo game systems are also the only dedicated video game systems where people can find their favorite characters and games.

Nintendo thought its new Switch console would do well; it had no idea it would do this well.

The latest addition to the 2DS/3DS family offers the same big-screen experience of the New 3DS XL while maintaining the low-priced approach of the first 2DS console. Weighing at only 260 grams, the console is also lighter than the 3DS XL. The announcement of the 2DS XL probably answers that question. There's a C-stick, Amiibo support, Z-buttons and its compatible with all of the games exclusive to the New 3D XL.

Mark Selby fights back to lead Ding Junhui in Semi-final
A spirited O'Sullivan comeback before the mid-session break kept alive hopes of him claiming a sixth World Championship title. Ding said, "I didn't know that the score was enough until people were clapping and I realised it was over".

Along with yesterday's reveal, Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime said in a statement that the New 2DS XL reveal shows Nintendo is still committed to the hand-held market.

The console will go on sale on July 28, but Nintendo is yet to confirm the price. Yeah, they have "New" in the actual product names.

Back in October, Nintendo made a confident bet: their new console, just then announced to the world as the Nintendo Switch, would break two million sales by the end of the following March.

The new 2DS XL will come in two colour options initially.
