Microsoft releases Windows 10 SDK Preview build 16190

The Fall Creators Update - a similar marketing moniker to a spring edition released in April - will come with Timeline, a feature created to let you jump back into files you were using a few hours or days ago as if you'd never left.

"We are building Windows to be the platform that empowers everyone to create", Terry Myerson, Microsoft's top Windows executive, wrote in a blog post. Microsoft addressed this by introducing a new option that will allow users to save entire folders to your mobile device, so you can open the files they contain once you have a connection again.

Besides implementing the new features in Windows, the company will encourage other software developers to incorporate the design into their applications.

Timeline improves the existing Task View area to show apps the user was working with on other devices. Most times, while you're connected to the internet, you can just double-click files and usual to open them into an app, and the file will automatically download to your device. It's a Cortana-based feature that will enable users to continue their work on a number of different devices.

The Windows 10 UI will get a new coat of paint, too.

Perhaps the most prominent change for the average user will be the launch of the Microsoft Fluent Design System, previously known as Project Neon. Story Remix takes your media - photos and video from your smartphone, for example - and turns them into "instant video stories". Microsoft will offer iTunes in its Windows Store at the end of this year.

Le Pen upstages rival Macron with stop at factory
Macron won the first round of the elections held on Sunday with 24.01 percent of the vote, followed by Le Pen with 21.3 percent. However, it's 88-year-old founder, Jean-Marie Le Pen , criticised his daughter and said he would have campaigned differently.

In another concession to the popularity of Apple's products, iTunes software will be added to the Windows Store - an announcement that evoked some of the loudest cheers in Thursday's crowd.

"You're going to see Fluent Design in the Windows shell and in our built-in apps over time", Belfiore said.

Microsoft will employ the activity data collected along the way to support Timeline, a feature for bringing up old application sessions. As the name implies, Timeline provides a visual record of recent apps and activities, which could be a more natural way of picking up where you left off.

Windows will also start to look a little fresher. "For developers, Fluent Design is built to help you create more expressive and engaging apps that work across a wide range of device and input diversity".

The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update will also see the magic of mixed reality brought to consumers around the world. That is far less than the $3,000 to $5,000 Microsoft has been charging for another mixed reality headset called HoloLens. Microsoft also announced its own set of motion controllers that works with the sensors built-in and within the headset, so you don't need to install cameras around your room like in HTC Vive.
