Woman's Day 'tore down Rebel to sell magazines'

The articles appeared in magazines including Woman's Day and the Australian Women's Weekly.

Wilson claimed the articles were so damaging she lost roles in major Hollywood films including voice parts for the kids' cartoons Kung Fu Panda 3 and Trolls.

On Monday, Wilson was in the Supreme Court in Melbourne accompanied by her sister Anna, 25, for the start of the three-week trial.

Home-grown Hollywood star Rebel Wilson's "world collapsed" when a series of "grubby articles" in a women's magazine painted her as a fake and a liar, a Melbourne court has heard.

Wilson was especially upset that the publication of the article occurred when Pitch Perfect 2 was released.

"She had never been hit with such nastiness, timed for the high point of her career", he said.

"It's not lucrative", she told the court.

Bauer also claim Wilson's defamation case is retribution against the publisher after it forced Wilson to retract an inflammatory tweet she made about a Bauer journalist.

As an example, Schoff referred to Wilson's alleged upbringing, stating that she did not grow up in the "ghetto" of Sydney as the actress had previously claimed.

Now, it's considering a new subscription model in which it releases new hacking tools to subscribers every month. This data dump is also said to carrying information on banks using the SWIFT global money transfer network.

"These articles were a deliberate malicious take-down of me", the 37-year-old actress said before an all-female jury in the Supreme Court of Victoria on Tuesday.

Collins said that, in the wake of the articles, Wilson stopped being offered roles, was sacked from several films, began taking sleeping tablets and developed a stress rash on her arms and around her mouth.

Wilson is set to take the stand herself later in the hearing.

Wilson said she was born Melanie Elizabeth Bownds, but that her mother had wanted to name her after a little girl called Rebel who sang at her wedding.

It was also claimed Wilson told Overington that her aunt was married to Walt Disney and gave her special access to the entertainment park as a child.

THE judge needn't have anxious about the potential bias of at least one of the people cast into the jury pool for Rebel Wilson's defamation case.

It was not a concern, he said, if they had previously seen one of Ms Wilson's films, Pitch Perfect and Bridesmaids among them.

Wilson told the jury she was on powerful drugs and had a premonition while in hospital.
