Latest vote count has NDP leading in Courtenay-Comox

The announcement of a news conference comes as Elections B.C. has begun counting absentee ballots that could determine if either the B.C. Liberals or the NDP win a majority of seats in the legislature.

The most recent judicial recount was after the 2013 election in Coquitlam-Maillardville riding, where 35 votes separated the Liberal and NDP candidates, which was less than 1/500 of the total ballots considered that triggers an automatic application from the district electoral officer for a judicial recount under the act.

There are still 2,814 absentee ballots still to be counted.

Ballots collected by Elections B.C. mobile teams, in hospitals, remote work camps and one that went door-to-door in an area isolated by a landslide in the Shuswap, are also not included in election night vote counts. A party needs 44 seats to govern in majority.

Elections BC said it would once again provide vote count updates Wednesday starting at 10 a.m. Officials say about half of the ballots have been counted in the riding so far. About 900 absentee votes remain to be counted Wednesday.

Celtics best Lakers to secure top pick
The 76ers will also receive the Lakers' 2018 first round draft pick and the Kings' 2019 first-rounder with no protections. Most mock drafts figure to have the Celtics taking Washington point guard Markelle Fultz with the first pick.

Green Leader Andrew Weaver has said there are more similarities between the Greens and NDP on major issues, but that didn't preclude his party from working with the Liberals.

And, of course, in Courtenay-Comox where the razor-thin margin continues to flip-flop, there's always the remote possibility of a tie.

Elections BC is due to have the entire final count complete by May 24, however that doesn't mean the results are certain yet.

In that case, Elections BC would have to call a by-election for the riding.
