Man dies from flesh-eating bacteria after swimming with new tattoo

According to Metro, the unidentified victim made a decision to go swimming in the Gulf of Mexico just days after getting a tattoo of a crucifix and praying hands on his right calf. Warm waters should be avoided, as they have a higher risk of harboring bacteria that could seep through the tiny holes left by the tattooing needle.

According to these guidelines, you're supposed to wait at least two weeks before swimming in the pool or ocean to allow the wound to heal. Regardless of whether one goes swimming or not, someone with a new tattoo is expected to keep it disinfected and cleaned at all times to avoid unnecessary health complications.

But it could also be fatal, as reports suggest a 31-year-old man was killed by flesh-eating bacteria just days after taking a swim in the Gulf of Mexico, not long after getting a tattoo.

Golfer Tiger Woods fell asleep in driving seat before arrest
According to the report, an officer found Woods asleep at the wheel of his 2015 Mercedes just after 2 a.m. Woods apologized , saying, " I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again ".

A case report by the British Medical Journal noted the man suffered from fever and chills as a result. The condition got worse over next two days before he was admitted to hospital. It was later confirmed that he contracted sepsis on his calf. But afterward, his condition worsened again, and about two months later, he died due to complications related to liver damage, kidney failure and destroyed tissue in his skin lesions, the report said. As the wound was fresh, it immediately became contaminated with some flesh-eating bacteria that tore his skin and eventually led to death. These include staph infections, which can be similarly risky, as well as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, tetanus, or any other infection that may be caused by a procedure involving needles.

A gentle reminder for those getting inked: Follow your tattoo artist's aftercare instructions and you'll be alright.
