B Sai Praneeth rallies to win Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold title

Despite few nervy moments in the closing stages, Praneeth clinched the final game 21-19 to win the Thailand Open. "This Thai Open win is a reminder, if someone needed, that my victory in Singapore Open was not a fluke", says Praneeth.

In a match that saw plenty of plenty of twists, the 24-year-old Sai Praneeth squandered a 16-14 advantage in the first game which Christie capitalised on, winning four consecutive points to take the game 21-17. In the Syed Modi International Grand Prix, he lost to compatriot Sameer Verma in the final.

"I was just focusing on the rallies. Any win in a tournament final is always welcome", Praneeth said.

Praneeth came from a game down in the final to beat Christie 17-21, 21-18, 21-19 in a match which lasted one hour and 11 minutes. Sai Praneeth lost the first game 17-21 when Christie had the upper hand by consistently taking the lead as the Indian played the catching up game.
