Girl Thrown Out of Soccer Game Because She 'Looks Like a Boy'

She tweeted, "Mili, don't EVER let anyone tell you that you aren't ideal just as you are.i won championships with short hair".

Apparently, Mili Hernandez's short hair left officials CONVINCED the soccer-loving youngster was a boy trying to play in the girls tournament. And she likes it that way.

Though upset with the disqualification itself, Mili's father, Gerardo Hernandez, is still proud of his daughter.

Mili Hernandez was supposed to be worrying about playing in the finals of a youth soccer tournament over the weekend with girls three years older.

Mili's boyish appearance is partially due to her short hair style, which Mili says she prefers. WOWT said the family showed her insurance card to tournament organizers to prove she's a girl, but it was to no avail.

Except the team set to face hers at the tournament chose to go for some major league baloney, and asked Hernandez's team to be disqualified because they believed she was a boy.

Her family plans to appeal the ruling to the Nebraska State Soccer association. He said her full first name is Milagros and that Mili is a nickname she's had since she was a baby. But while she led her team to the finals, when it came time to play officials disqualified the team, saying she is a boy. But another form listed her as a girl - and she was playing on an all girls team and is, in fact, a girl - so he thought the problem would be easily straightened out. "But they don't have a reason to kick the whole club out".

According to the WOWT story, the Springfield Soccer Club declined an request interview.

"They didn't want to listen".

"Just because I can't play here, there's other tournaments that I can play", she said. By Monday she was back to dribbling a soccer ball and obsessing about her favorite team, Guadalajara's Chivas.
