Apple Joins Smart-Speaker Race With Music-Focused 'HomePod'

The new speaker that is dubbed HomePod, was launched on Monday in San Jose, California at the Worldwide Developers Conference. But Apple occasionally also uses the event to introduce new devices and services and upgrades to existing products.

WWDC is Apple's annual pitch to software engineers to continue building programs for the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. Google, meanwhile, previewed new speaker features such as hands-free phone calling during its software conference last month.

An internet-connected speaker called HomePod is coming in December for about $350. Amazon sells the main version of the Echo for $180; Google's Home speaker goes for $130. You can check out our comparison check here.

Where Apple may have the advantage is if it can, in fact, provide superior sound quality, given its stated focus on music.

HomePod users may initially be constrained by Siri's lack of capabilities as compared to Alexa, which also boasts the ability to order millions of Amazon products as well as food from restaurants like Domino's.

With an upcoming software update for iPhones and iPads, Siri will learn your habits based on what articles you might be reading, for instance.

As per the survey, in the previous month by analysis firm eMarketer found Echo speakers held 70.6% of the USA market, compared with 23.8% for Google Home.

A new Siri interface on the Apple Watch will also blend users' calendar information with other useful details, like airline tickets they may have booked, the company said.

Ravens sign CB Brandon Boykin and cut Kyle Arrington
When healthy, the 26-year-old cornerback was a consistent contributor for the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers . When the New England Patriots released Arrington in 2015, Baltimore signed him to a three-year, $7 million deal.

Security and privacy are fundamental to the design of Apple hardware, software and services. Another Safari feature will stop video from automatically playing on websites. The current version is just Sierra.

According to Tim Cook, The speaker has very related to Google home as it has a voice assistant (Siri) which built-in that can play music, read the news, answer questions, and much more. Whether you care about a lot of them is not what I'm here to talk about, but I did want to at least highlight the HomePod, which is Apple's Google Home and Amazon Echo competitor.

If you hate websites with autoplay videos, then yeah.

Virtual reality has been described as the next big thing for decades.

While Cook told Bloomberg that Apple (aapl) won't modify its encryption to make it easier for law enforcement to access data, he said his company can still furnish information that can help law enforcement find suspects. Although Apple is late to the game, CCS Insight analyst Geoff Blaber says the new tools come "as the technology hits an inflection point".

The new iPad Pro also comes with a better camera - the same one found in the iPhone 7 - along with more storage, a better display and faster refreshing of moving images.

Apple has entered the intelligent speaker market with the announcement of its premium-priced HomePod. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is available in silver, Space Gray and gold and starts at $799 for the 64 GB Wi-Fi model and $929 for the 64 GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model.

A new desktop and laptop operating system was also announced. New iMacs and MacBook laptops start shipping Monday. These devices will only keep the most recent messages in local storage.
