And while he did praise the Captain America films, Evans also admitted that he missed the organic and intimate feel of "a smaller film".

But last year's Civil War would have been the end of Evans' six-movie commitment.

It's time to face the music, Captain America fans.

An untitled sequel will be released on May 3, 2019, and features numerous same cast returning alongside new additions like Brie Larson as Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) and Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne (The Wasp).

Avengers: Infinity War is slated to hit US theatres in May of next year (18) while its followup will debut the following year (19).

Remember way back in the winter months (okay, the beginning of April) when Chris Evans talked about his future acting career? In a recent interview with The Telegraph, he explained his decision.

Comic book movies are bigger than ever right now, especially those in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "Because if things worked out, I'd have to do all six of them", he continued.

Though Evans has expressed interest over the past six years in moving on from Cap and the Avengers team to focus on smaller projects and, even, directing gigs, it seems he's willing to be pulled back in one more time for the sake of storytelling.

"Avengers: Infinity War", which will see the extended family of Cap, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow et al joined by those aforementioned newcomers like the Guardians of the Galaxy and Black Panther to battle Josh Brolin's latern-jawed "intergalactic despot" Thanos. If you are fans of the universe of the MCU, the first trailer of Black Panther was unveiled this weekend! "That it was going to be so dominating, all-encompassing". Captain America as a character is not the easiest sell in the modern world, but thanks to the incredible earnestness and leading man charms of Evans, one of comics' admittedly cheesiest heroes became one of modern cinema's most thrilling.
