Trump to host S.Korea's Moon for White House talks

Experts have long suggested that North Korea intends to develop a thermonuclear bomb that can reach hold targets in the United States mainland at risk as a deterrent, for possible diplomatic concessions, and now, to prove wrong a tweet from President Donald Trump.

'The U.S.is feeling uneasy as this might be proven in practice.

"Trump blustered early this year that the DPRK's final access to a nuclear weapon that can reach the United States mainland will never happen".

Last month, North Korea premiered a powerful new midrange missile that outside experts said flew higher than any other missile it has tested.

Seoul agreed a year ago to deploy the missile interceptor system to guard against threats from nuclear-armed North Korea, despite angry opposition from China - which believes THAAD could undermine its own military capabilities.

The nominee, Song Young-moo, was well suited to deal with North Korea's nuclear and missile threat, the presidential Blue House office said.

The aircraft mounted with a camera was discovered last week in a South Korean forest near the border with the North.

North Korea's advancing missile and nuclear programmes are the "most urgent and dangerous" threat to USA national security, U.S. defence secretary Jim Mattis said.

While analysts estimate tests could begin on such a weapon before the end of the year, North Korea's recent attempts to launch intermediate-range ballistic missiles (IRBM), which have a lesser range of at least 1,864 miles, have been met with significant difficulties, including three failures to launch in April.

A Saturday editorial in Rodong Sinmun stated that the test-firing of an intercontinental ballistic missile was not far away. The North also has successfully tested new anti-ship cruise missiles.

But Mattis said on Monday that any military action against North Korea would have disastrous consequences for the Korean Peninsula.

Documents released to the Taxpayer's Union under the Official Information Act have revealed New Zealand provided around $30,000 per year to its embassy in South Korea, with the money then directed to non-government organisations in North Korea.

Those tests were part of dozens of missile launches by Pyongyang since the beginning of past year.

About 10 of them were aerial shots of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system - more than 100 miles away from the border - which is created to shoot North Korea's ballistic missiles down before they can do damage, the official said.

The distance between the border and the THAAD zone in North Gyeongsang Province is around 270 kilometers.
