India converges to celebrate Int'l Yoga Day

Stating that India has earned reputation by popularising yoga worldwide, Meghwal lauded the Prime Minister for his efforts to initiate the observations of "International Yoga Day" all over the world.

He said yoga is about health assurance.

The United Nations proclaimed the date in 2014 and it's being marked around the world.

Today, the 3rd International Day of Yoga is being observed across the nation with mass demonstration events of yoga.

Last year, the International Yoga Day was celebrated in Chandigarh, the capital city of the north Indian state of Punjab while the first International Yoga Day was held in the Indian capital, New Delhi.

He also asserted that attaining "wellness" through yoga was more important than simple physical fitness.

He urged the participants to practice yoga everyday as a fit mind and a fit body were the abode of God.

Mr. Modi also used the analogy of salt to talk about the significance of yoga, saying that just like salt added taste to food, yoga ensured the well-being of a person.
