Israelis dead in occupied West Bank stabbing attack

On Friday, three Palestinians reportedly were killed in clashes between rioters and police in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Tensions have soared since the death of two Israeli police officers, shot dead by Israeli-Arab gunmen in the area surrounding the holy site on 14 July.

The Palestinian attacker, according to the army, was shot and injured.

Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas has announced he is freezing ties with Israel, dealing a blow to fledgling Trump administration efforts to try to renew long-dormant peace talks.

Israeli officials say three Israelis have died and one more is wounded after a Palestinian broke into a home in a West Bank settlement and stabbed the inhabitants.

Israeli police said the response was prompted by the Palestinian crowds attacking members of the police after the noon prayer.

After Israel reopened the mosque on Sunday Palestinians refused to enter Al-Aqsa through the detectors, with hundreds camping around the premises throughout the week to protest Israeli actions.

Mob sets banks ablaze as policeman shoots truck driver dead in Lagos
Police Authorities in Lagos State say one of its official accused of shooting a tanker driver in Apapa Wharf has been arrested. The tanker drivers who were angry chased the officer into the bank where he was been protected by security guards.

Officials said 3,000 attended several protests over the detectors Israel placed near a site holy to both Jews and Muslims.

Speculation had been mounting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu might order the metal detectors removed before this week's prayers.

Israeli police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld said reinforcements have been deployed in and around the Old City.

The site is open for women of all ages and for men over the age of 50, Xinhua news agency quoted a police spokesperson as saying.

The spokesperson slammed the Israeli violations, including the killing and arresting of Palestinian worshippers who have been holding the daily prayers outside the gates to Al-Aqsa Mosque and depriving Palestinians of their right of worship, as terrorism.

Clashes also erupted in other parts of East Jerusalem, at the Qalandia checkpoint between Ramallah and Jerusalem, and at the northern entrance of Bethlehem.

Apart from wounds from live ammunition, rubber bullets and tear gas, some victims said they were run over by Israeli armed forces vehicles.
