Hammond sparks Tory turmoil over free movement of labour after Brexit

Speaking to the Sunday Times, International Trade Secretary Liam Fox said: "We made it clear that control of our borders was one of the elements we wanted in the referendum and unregulated free movement would seem to me not to keep faith with that decision".

But the government has moderated its position since the surprise election setback.

THE CONSERVATIVE party confusion over Brexit continued at the weekend with senior party spokesmen expressing apparently opposite views, particularly on the issue of free movement.

Former Brexit minister David Jones branded Mr Hammond's transition initiative "deeply dangerous" as he accused the Chancellor of "going on manoeuvres" while May was overseas on holiday. He said most Eurosceptics were willing to accept a time-limited transition from the European Union to give new customs and immigration systems time to bed in.

Dr Fox insisted the Cabinet has not agreed a deal on immigration after withdrawal from the EU.

The Swiss model, membership of the European Free Trade Association (Efta), means access to EU markets for some but not all areas of trade, with no duty to apply EU laws apart from some trade regulations, though free movement also applies.

In her letter to the independent committee carrying out the inquiry, Rudd said made it clear that she also favored a transition period. We have published proposals on citizens' rights, " he said.

It's already official: Wonder Woman is getting a SECOND movie
As of Sunday, the superhero pic is now the highest-grossing film of the summer with $398 million from North American theaters, and the sequel is official.

The Prime Minister is now enjoying a summer break away from Downing Street and has left Chancellor Philip Hammond in charge during her absence.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd said after March 2019, European Union workers moving to Britain will have to register, at least until a permanent post-Brexit immigration policy is implemented.

Warsaw has repeatedly requested post-Brexit guarantees for Polish nationals living in Britain.

A transitional deal is expected after we quit the bloc - as ministers have said they want to avoid a "cliff-edge" for businesses who need access to labour to continue.

Philip Hammond told the French newspaper Le Monde that the United Kingdom will not become an aggressive Singapore-style corporate tax haven by slashing corporation tax and cutting regulations for business. "That is not our project or our vision for the future", Hammond was quoted as saying in response. This means that the transitional period - however long it is - until a post-Brexit deal is agreed could be a hard time.

"Last week the Home Secretary said there would be a registration system for European Union nationals arriving post-March 2019". We are not looking for an off-the-shelf model'. "Precise details of what the implementation period looks like are for negotiation", the spokesman said.
