New England Patriots become first National Football League team to own customized planes

A brand new plane could cost up to $200 million. The Patriots logo and five Lombardi trophies are emblazoned on at least one of the planes.

They only figuratively own the New York Jets, but the defending champions now own two wide-body jets.

New England has gone ahead and purchased literal jets, as reported by Darren Rovell of, becoming the first National Football League franchise to own an airplane for team travel.

"These planes, depending on miles flown and condition, generally cost between $5 million and $65 million".

Trump's Approval Rating Craters, Down to Only 33% in Latest Poll
It also stated that American voters say 54 to 26 percent that they are embarrassed rather than proud to have Trump as president. The data marked the lowest approval rating that the polling group had recorded for the president since he assumed office.

The Pats bought not one, but two Boeing 767s so the team can always travel together in style without needing to worry about chartering a jet.

While the lack of total road games have usually scared off National Football League teams from buying their own planes, the Patriots' latest transaction might be a cost-effective move as charter travel continues to get more expensive. The plan is that one plane will be the primary one used for transportation to and from game locations.

It wouldn't be out of the ordinary for other teams to follow suit and start buying their own planes. Patriots spokesman Stacey James said that team officials would not be publicly commenting on the acquisitions. The planes reportedly come equipped with first-class seating throughout.

The team can also cover some of the cost by renting out the planes when not in use.
