Democrats are already looking to formally censure Trump - or at least force Republicans to debate the measure - and Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., said Thursday he plans to introduce articles of impeachment against Trump.

Heather Heyer, 32, was killed after a vehicle rammed into a crowd of demonstrators protesting against white supremacists in Charlottesville, VA on Saturday.

Facing pressure to explicitly denounce neo-Nazis and other white supremacist groups, Trump made a subsequent statement two days later, declaring, "racism is evil" and white supremacist groups are "repugnant".

"You have some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people on both sides", Trump said Tuesday.

In addition to releasing the statement, Graham also responded in a series of tweets.

Jessica Mackler, the president of American Bridge, said that Trump's response to Charlottesville was "entirely predictable" given his past statements detailed in the report.

He then harkened back to the 2016 GOP presidential primary, in which he cruised to the party's nomination while Graham never gained any traction. "I, along with many others, do not endorse this moral equivalency", Graham continued.

"Your tweet honoring Miss Heyer was very nice and appropriate".

He added Wednesday: "We can't claim to be the party of Lincoln if we equivocate in condemning white supremacy".

The following day, August 17, 2017, Trump took to Twitter to dismiss Graham's statement as "such a disgusting lie".

"However, because of the manner in which you have handled the Charlottesville tragedy you are now receiving praise from some of the most racist and hate-filled individuals and groups in our country", he added.

It's not enough that Donald Trump be officially censured for saying neo-Nazis and the Ku Klux Klan do not deserve full blame for a deadly white supremacist rally.

The fallout from Trump's response also led to the disbanding of his CEO advisory panels on Wednesday as a growing number of chief executives from some of the nation's largest companies resigned in protest against the president's response.
