Angela Merkel : German Chancellor calls for extension of European Union border controls

German Chancellor Angela Merkel says she can't keep quiet "for the sake of peace" on concerns about the rule of law in Poland. Her comments open the possibility that legislation could be put forward after Germany's election on September 24 and the formation of the next government, which Merkel wants to head.

"I made my decision based on what I thought was right from a political and humanitarian standpoint".

In Berlin on Tuesday, Dr Merkel insisted that a plan to review asylum claims in Chad or Niger was about tackling human trafficking across the Mediterranean Sea, not pushing the refugee crisis back into Africa.

Merkel and the European Union have already sealed a migrants deal with Turkey to stem the flow from the Middle East and her spokesman, Steffen Seibert, said the Egypt deal would "fight illegal immigration and the criminal smuggling of people". Her voter outreach in northwestern German city of Bergisch-Gladbach last week, did not go well either as hundreds of angry protesters whistled and chanted the AfD slogan "Merkel must go".

"And that means serving the people of Germany", she said. In both cases, the demonstrators expressed their discontent with Merkel's refugee policy, which they said had failed. Germany allows plaintiffs to bundle lawsuits against financial companies, and the same rights could be offered to auto buyers if done right, she said.

Russian envoy to Sudan Mirgayas Shirinsky found dead at his residence
Shirinsky had been in the Russian diplomatic service since 1977 and had previously served in Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Rwanda. Alexander Kadakin, Russia's former ambassador to India, died in January after a brief illness and Andrey G.

Merkel on Saturday encountered fierce protest in an election campaign rally in Quedlinburg in eastern Germany's state of Saxony-Anhalt, where the anti-foreigner sentiment is obviously strong.

She said in an interview with public broadcaster ZDF on Sunday that she also wants to improve schools and education, and to push for more electric automobiles.

Europe, not just Germany, has paid a heavy price for Merkel's insistence on the open borders for millions of migrants.Germany and other European countries have been battling with a migrant crime wave.

As politically troublesome as the refugee issue has been for Merkel, her main opponent, Martin Schulz of the far-left Social Democratic Party, has been unable to take advantage.

At least one reporter wanted to know why Merkel only appeared once a year for a major press conference on her own, accusing the chancellor of being more media shy than President Donald Trump or Russian President Vladimir Putin.
