USA orders Russian Federation to close consulate but seeks 'to improve relations'

The Kremlin has not yet retaliated.

The tit-for-tat response underscored how relations between Washington and Moscow have only spiralled downward in the seven months since President Donald Trump came to office promising improved ties with Russian Federation.

President Trump ratcheted up the U.S.'s feud with Russia on Thursday when he ordered multiple facilities belonging to the Federation to be shuttered.

Ryan urged the panel to determine - and make public -who paid for the 35-page dossier, which was compiled by a former British intelligence officer, Christopher Steele, over the summer and fall of 2016.

Earlier this week, documents submitted to Congress revealed that Trump's top executive emailed Putin's personal spokesman a year ago.

After the House and Senate recently passed new sanctions on Russia, Iran and North Korea by veto-proof, almost unanimous margins, including a provision requiring congressional approval of any administration sanctions rollback, the Kremlin moved forward with retaliatory measures before Trump signed the bill. But the document also piqued the interest of the F.B.I., which was investigating Russian meddling and possible ties to the Trump campaign.

Trump signed the "Countering American Adversaries Through Sanctions Act" but noted it was "seriously flawed" and had "clearly unconstitutional provisions" that encroach on the executive branch's authority to negotiate foreign policy.

But instead of lashing out at Russia's aggressive diplomatic move, Trump actually praised Putin for kicking out USA diplomats, claiming Putin was actually doing the U.S. a favor.

"We're going to look for opportunities to do that, but we're also going to make sure that we make decisions that are best for our country", Sanders said. Ushakov told Russian news agencies that the government "regrets" the latest USA move and needs to "think carefully about how we could respond".

The appointment waiting time is 53 days for other non-immigrant visas, such as business ones. He worked for the Trump Organization for almost a decade, and is a native New Yorker who became a millionaire following successful turns in real estate and the taxi business.

The State Department today said it's achieved "parity" with Russia's decision to scale back USA diplomatic operations in Moscow by making the Russian government close its Consulate General in San Francisco, a chancery annex in Washington and a consular annex in New York City by September 2.

The State Department warned that the U.S.is ready to take further action "as necessary and as warranted", but voiced hope that Moscow and Washington could now move toward "improved relations" and "increased cooperation". The decision to close three Russian diplomatic facilities on the territory of the United States was made by US President Donald Trump, White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders told reporters on Thursday. Cohen said in a statement that the project was not related to Trump's campaign.
