Amla, Perera lead World XI to T20 win

The nation marked the return of worldwide cricket back to home with Pakistan comfortably defeating the all stars team in the first T20. An 86 run knock at the top of the order in front of a packed 25,000 Gadaffi Stadium laid the foundation for Pakistan to finish with 197 runs.

Left-handed Perera's aggressive 19-ball 47 with five towering sixes and his two wickets for 23 played crucial role in the victory and earned him the man-of-the-match award.

World XI got off to a slow start and the required run rate started going up which led to openers Tamim Iqbal and Hashim Amla getting out before making a mark. With the focus now firmly on the second T20 and the celebratory entrances done with, expect complete focus on the cricket. Tim Paine and Faf du Plessis offered brief support but with 69 needed off the last 6 overs, it would need something special for the World XI to triumph. But in the second match, he, to some extent, remained successful in amusing the spectators with his classic shots as he played 13 balls to score 23 runs with the help of four fours.

Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur has said his team would have to be more disciplined to seize the historic Twenty20 worldwide series against the World XI.

Ahmed Shezad, who was sweating in the first match scoring 39 runs, was looking better and fit in the today's match as he scored 34-ball 43 hitting five fours and one six. It was a collective effort from the Pakistan batting line up which kept the scoreboard ticking but they were not allowed to run away with it in the death overs. He was ably assisted by hero of the first match Babar Azam, who once again played a sensible innings, and collected 45 runs off 38 balls with the help of five fours.
