Lupita Nyongo'o Says Harvey Weinstein Once Tried To Coerce Her Into Sex

More than 40 women have made allegations of harassment or inappropriate behaviour against Weinstein since investigations by the New York Times and New Yorker magazine were published.

One of the roughly dozen women who came forward with accusations of sexual harassment or assault against Donald Trump during the presidential campaign doubts that the uproar over allegations against Harvey Weinstein will lead to lasting change.

Weinstein's representative Sallie Hofmeister says the Oscar-winner can not address anonymous claims but "unequivocally denies allegations of non-consensual sex". After being introduced in Germany, Harvey invited Nyong'o, who was still in drama school at Yale, to a film screening at his home in CT. A female producer friend cautioned her to "keep Harvey in your corner". Sometime after, he invited her to attend a film screening at his home.

Prior to arriving at his home, the pair had lunch at a restaurant nearby where Weinstein insisted several times she drink alcohol, Nyong'o said. In the piece, the Black Panther star detailed an incident in which Weinstein requested a massage from Nyong'o in his bedroom. "They don't think, 'I'm going to bother this woman and she's going to have nightmares, '" she said.

"For the first time since I met him, I felt unsafe", Nyong'o wrote.

Years went by, Nyong'o won an Oscar for Twelve Years A Slave, and Weinstein reportedly apologized for his behavior, hoping to have her appear in one of his upcoming films (she didn't). He said she decribed to the LAPD "extremely serious sexual assault and rape" but did not go into the "graphic" details.

Weinstein and Tarantino have worked closely for decades since the producer distributed "Reservoir Dogs", in 1992.

Auto suppliers fear job losses if U.S. quits NAFTA
In addition, officials said they are preparing for the possibility of ending the NAFTA and moving USA $1 trillion in annual trade. Rules of origin will be discussed by negotiators today, Sunday and Monday, according to an agenda obtained by Bloomberg.

When Weinstein began to take off his trousers, Nyong'o went straight to the door and told him she was uncomfortable. The assault, she said, was in 1992, and she is considering issuing a formal complaint to police. "He was charming and amusing once more, and I felt confused about the discomfort I had previously experienced", Nyong'o said. "I have a private room upstairs where we can have the rest of our meal", he apparently proposed, to her shock.

"She seemed on edge, but I could only imagine how stressful it was to work for a man who had so much going on".

When she declined, she recalls Mr. Weinstein telling her that if she wanted to be an actress, then she had to be willing to do that sort of thing. "I wish I had taken responsibility for what I heard".

"But now that this is being discussed openly, I have not been able to avoid the memories resurfacing", she continued. "But I made a quiet promise to myself to never ever work with Harvey Weinstein". (She reportedly had video evidence that she gave to the police as well.) An anonymous former Miramax employee using the pseudonym Sarah Smith told the Daily Mail she was raped by Weinstein in the basement apartment below Miramax's offices in southwest London.

"Our business is complicated because intimacy is part and parcel of our profession; as actors we are paid to do very intimate things in public", Nyong'o wrote.

"Though we may have endured powerlessness at the hands of Harvey Weinstein, by speaking up, speaking out and speaking together, we regain that power".
