Mueller Has Filed the First Charges in the Russia Investigation

News reported Saturday that a U.S. official familiar with the matter says Mueller's office will hand down an indictment in the probe on Monday.

A federal grand jury in Washington on Friday approved the first charges in the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to CNN. It prevents the target of an indictment from knowing they're about to be charged and arrested, which limits the risk of defendants destroying evidence or any shenanigans when they are eventually brought in. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has recused himself from any investigation into the 2016 election. There was also that whole Trump Tower meeting with a Russian lawyer, meaning Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner are still in play here as well.

USA intelligence agencies concluded in January that Russian Federation interfered in the election to try and help President Donald Trump defeat Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

Sources familiar with Mr Mueller's investigation said he has examined links between aides of Mr Trump and foreign governments, as well as possible money laundering, tax evasion and other financial crimes.

President Trump had been repeatedly frustrated by the investigation since entering office, calling the probe a "witch hunt" and denying any collusion with Moscow.

Lupita Nyongo'o Says Harvey Weinstein Once Tried To Coerce Her Into Sex
He said she decribed to the LAPD "extremely serious sexual assault and rape" but did not go into the "graphic" details. When Weinstein began to take off his trousers , Nyong'o went straight to the door and told him she was uncomfortable.

Two high-profile figures have appeared a few times in the investigation: former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort, and former national security adviser and Trump campaign adviser Michael Flynn.

The investigation is also looking into allegations that Trump obstructed justice when he fired Comey.

A senior Trump official said Saturday that the White House will have "no comment" about the charges.

The Justice Department's appointment of Mueller as a special counsel came amid growing public demands to place the politically charged inquiry into the hands of an outside investigator with bipartisan respect.

Paul Manafort headed Trump's campaign for president for just a few months, but played a crucial role in delegate counting at the Republican National Convention, making sure that Trump secured the Republican nomination on the first ballot, avoiding a floor fight and the possibility that the nomination could have gone to an Establishment-friendly candidate - not Trump.
