'I' on iPhone Keyboard Doesn't Work Right Now, Customers Complain

If so, you're definitely wondering why typing the letter "I" autocorrects to the letter "A" with the symbol [?] next to it.

If you see a string of text that looks like "A [?]" throughout your iPhone, you're not going insane, it's just a weird bug that's hitting iPhone users on iOS 11. According to The Guardian, some Apple users are reporting seeing the "i" character in the emoji picker, while others are actually seeing the unusual Unicode character.

By Monday morning, several people discovered the simple hack to fix the problem until Apple releases an update to fix the bug. The company basically wants you to use its Text Replacement feature as a temporary fix until it can get its act together. After that, you are required to type an upper-case "I" character for the phrase and a lower-case "i" character for the shortcut. Go to Settings, then General, Keyboard, and finally Text Replacement. You could also turn off predictive text and/or autocorrect and be forced to proofread again.

Many users have reported to Apple support on Twitter, one user says, "After upgrading to iOS 11.1 my battery drains very fast". Last week, researchers participating in the Pwn2Own 2017 contest successfully hacked an iPhone 7 running iOS 11.1, and were able to drop malicious code into the device.

Georgia tops first CFP rankings, followed by Alabama, Notre Dame and Clemson
The Crimson Tide , the only team who has made the College Football Playoff since the format's inception in 2014, is at No. 2. Georgia and Alabama are unbeaten and now on course to meet in the SEC Championship game in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The other way to fix the glitch in the interim is to download and use a third-party keyboard app.

"I have a $1,150 [£877] telephone that can't read the letter "i", wrote Mike Murphy, a technology reporter for news website Quartz, on Twitter.

The BBC has contacted Apple for comment.
