Two students badly injured in vehicle attack in France, local media reports

A man rammed a vehicle into three Chinese students near the French city of Toulouse today, injuring one of them seriously, police sources said. One of them is said to be in a serious condition.

Police say the man is known for previous minor offences, notably drugs-related.

French police clarified however, that the 28-year-old driver is not on a security watch-list and after an investigation the public prosecutor said there are no indications that the vehicle attack was an act of terrorism.

All three of Friday's victims, who were on a crosswalk when the ramming occurred, were in their 20s, with a 23-year-old woman the most seriously injured and two men aged 22 and 23 also hurt.

Officials confirmed the 28-year-old suspect was not on the terrorism watch list, but had been planning the attack for quite some time.

Qualcomm apparently isn't happy with the offer, with Bloomberg saying that Qualcomm thinks the deal "undervalues the company". Reuters reported that Broadcom had not contacted Qualcomm about the offer prior to Tan's letter.

They were taken by ambulance to Purpan Hospital.

The injured students were believed to be Chinese nationals, the BBC reported. The man was arrested on the spot.

A driver was arrested after the collision, and the Toulouse prosecutor has been called to investigate, the ministry said.

Paul, a communications student at IGS Campus, told La Depeche: "I was in class and I heard sirens".

One hundred Chinese students were enrolled this year on an MBA course at the institute, the local paper said.
