Iran Accuses Saudi Arabia of Pushing for War

In what is perhaps the only concrete measure, the ministers said Arab telecommunications satellites would ban Iranian-financed television stations for what they said was their fomenting of sectarian and ethnic tensions and because they posed a threat to Arab security.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari also did not attend the meeting.

Iran on Monday dismissed as "worthless" a resolution by Arab League foreign ministers that accused the Islamic republic of "aggression" against Arab states. "Any leniency in dealing with their policies would only encourage them more, so we must stand together", the Saudi Foreign Minister added.

They warned Iran not to interfere in the internal affairs of the region and stressed that Tehran should halt its support for Houthi rebels and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Jibran Bassil was absent and was instead represented by Lebanon's permanent representative to the Arab League, Antoine Azzam.

They condemned what they described as Iran's constant meddling in Arab affairs.

The draft appears to be in sync with Saudi Arabia's strong stance against Iran since the Houthis fired a missile on November 4.

"We say it in clear terms that Iranian threats have exceeded all boundaries and are pushing the region toward the abyss". Saudi authorities claimed of destroying the missile before reaching its destination while Houthis said that the missile hit the target successfully.

Earlier Sunday, Abul Gheit said the missile fired at Riyadh was made in Iran.

Iran "supplied the Houthi militias with all types of weapons ... which enabled them to overrun the country's capital and on their way detonate residences, schools, places of worship and public and private facilities", Abdul-Malik Al-Mekhlafi said.

Iranian forces have played a key role in backing the regime of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in its war against the rebels and ISIS.

According to Riyadh's official Al-Arabia.net, in a separate meeting with editors of Egyptian newspapers, the Saudi Arabia's foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir said that Qatar's crisis is small matter and and there are more important matters to attend to.

Lebanese president Michel Aoun, a Hizbollah ally, said Lebanon can not accept suggestions that its government is a partner in acts of terrorism. President Michel Aoun, has refused to accept Hariri's resignation and accused Saudi Arabia of holding him against his will. Hariri and Saudi Arabia deny the allegations. Both countries have recently announced about achieving major successes in their fight against terrorist groups with Wahabi ideology. Relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran have been rocky since the 1979 Iranian revolution.
