A northwest IN teacher is behind bars and facing drug charges after students say they caught her doing cocaine IN the classroom, and recorded the alleged act on video.

St. John police got the call around 11 a.m. about a possible narcotics situation.

A high school English teacher has been arrested after being filmed snorting what appeared to be cocaine in her classroom.

A 24-year-old IN teacher was arrested Wednesday after students at the school where she teaches tipped off the principal, police said.

Samantha Cox (seen above in her mugshot) was arrested after students showed the video to the principal.

Students said Cox, who was in her second year at the school, was quite popular, WGN-TV reported.

She was released from Lake County Jail on Wednesday after posting US$1000 bond.

"School officials and police want to recognize and praise the student witnesses that brought this information to the attention of the Principal very quickly", the St. John Police Department said in a statement. "Their actions showed a tremendous amount of fortitude and integrity". Police arrested Megan Nicole Sloan after she left her Facebook page open, which revealed details of her heroin habit and how she planned on pawning school items.

In a robocall to parents, Lake Central Superintendent Larry Veracco said police and school staff took "swift and forceful action". St. John Police Chief James Kveton administrators then contacted police.
