Addicted to your smartphone? Here's something that might help

According to Dezeen, which broke the story, these Substitute Phones act as "therapeutic tools" to help "frequent smartphone users cope with withdrawal symptoms" if they stop using their real device. If you've found yourself using your smartphone in such a scenario, an Austrian designer known as Klemens Schillinger might have a product to help you break that habit. That's what fidget spinners are for.

But Schillinger went all the way to design five different Substitute Phone models, depending on what gesture is most addictive to you.

"The object, which some of us describe as a prosthesis, is reduced to nothing but the motions", explains Schillinger's description of the... object.

Well, a user can run his thumb or index finger across the line of beads to simulate swiping left or right, up or down or diagonally. "There are no digital functions", he adds.

Twelve-year-old boy shot to death in Cleveland; five teens wounded
What's more, an additional 16-year-old kid was shot in the middle and an additional 14-year-old kid was shot in the crotch. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced late Friday that the 15-year-old was stopped near Buffalo, New York.

My habits, however, can't be curbed by a "Substitute Phone".

Most of the flagship devices have already been launched by smartphone makers.

"Daniel Kruger, a research scientist at the University of MI, said: "[Our] study provides some real insight and maybe some evidence that people can have a real dependency on cell phone use". Schillinger figured the same concept could be applied to smartphones, that replacing the physical stimulation without the connectivity might help people to rely less on their handsets. To put it in more simpler terms, the Substitute Phone, as they are called has a similar objective as fidget cubes and spinners. He continued: "Some of the movements (like the zoom-in finger movement) were born with the smartphone.so I thought it makes sense to replicate them in an analog way". It doesn't appear to be on sale at the moment, but it was part of an exhibition during the Vienna Design Week called #Offline - Design for the (Good Old) Real World.

Schillinger while talking to Denzeen said that people are more and more getting addicted to their smartphones in daily lives.
