Amazon Prime Video begins rolling out to the tvOS app store

Apple (AAPL) on Wednesday fixed a major shortcoming of its Apple TV set-top box by adding Amazon.com's (AMZN) Amazon Prime Video service.

The video service originally launched in 2006, competing in the crowding streaming video market with other global services like Netflix and YouTube TV, as well as localised services like Stan and Foxtel Now in Australia.

Amazon's app will be available in over 100 countries, and will be compatible with the Siri voice remote and universal search functions of the Apple TV.

Similar to other versions of the Prime Video app, the Apple TV app will allow Prime users to login to their accounts and enjoy Prime exclusive TV series and movies. There's also a new Sports tab in the Apple TV app which is home to information about teams, leagues and on-going games.

Presently, if a user tries to buy a film or TV show via Amazon's iOS app, he or she is directed to Amazon's website.

Meanwhile, an Amazon Prime subscription costs $99 per year or $11 per month.

Amazon does not currently offer Apple TV hardware, but some suspect that may change now that Apple is supporting Amazon's video app.

Atiku Abubakar rejoins PDP
Explaining his choice of the medium for the announcement, Atiku said, " I want to reach as many of our young people as possible ". There, he vied again for the top job but lost the primaries to President Goodluck Jonathan who succeeded President Yar'Adua.

Apple announced this would happen back in June, saying that the app would arrive "later this year".

"The Sports tab in the Apple TV app makes it even easier for fans in the U.S. to track the teams, games and moments that are important to them".

Separately, Amazon and Google are engaged in a spat over devices and content: Google blocked access to YouTube videos on Amazon's Echo Show device Tuesday, and said Amazon Fire TV users would be unable to access YouTube starting January 1.

The standoff was in the news yesterday as it emerged Google had blocked access to YouTube from the Amazon Echo Show and the Fire TV.

"There is nothing that excites us more than delighting our customers, and we are thrilled for them to stream Prime Video on Apple TV", said Mark Eamer, VP of Amazon Prime Video, in a statement. "We hope we can reach an agreement to resolve these issues soon".

It would, he explained, be disappointing for Amazon customers to purchase a product from its site only to find it didn't support Amazon's services.
