Amazon Prime Video now available on Apple TV

"The app arrives just in time for the highly anticipated new season of The Grand Tour. and Prime Video members streaming on the Apple TV 4K will have the exceptional viewing experience of 4K HDR".

Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for a comment on whether Apple TV will return to Amazon's online store now that it supports Amazon Prime.

The new app, first announced back in June, is a full endorsement of Apple's platform, supporting 4K HDR video and unique tvOS features like Siri search and TV app aggregation. This enabled Amazon Prime users to watch movies and videos on Apple TV directly, instead of mirroring content from any Apple device through AirPlay. That includes Google's Chromecast, a streaming device that's cheap but slightly tricky to use, since you have to start the video on your iPhone or Android phone and then switch the stream to the TV.

While Apple, Google and Amazon all bicker with each other about how they deliver and distribute each other's products and services, other streaming platforms are also increasingly tetchy about the way the big three tech/web giants organise their respective platforms so to favour their own music and video services. Amazon's suite of voice-controlled devices has outsold Google's so far, according to a study by research firm eMarketer from earlier this year.

Google and Amazon have always been in discussion regarding on the best way to go about with their products and have an equally beneficial working relationship. Amazon kicked the Chromecast, Google's television player, off its retail website in 2015, along with Apple Inc's TV player.

Hundreds of firefighters battle dynamic brush fire in Southern California
Stunned motorists found the hillside ablaze and gridlock below as fire raced towards the homes of numerous city's rich and famous. It was reported at six acres but quickly grew to at least 50 acres as crews were working against 25 miles per hour winds.

SAN FRANCISCO Google is pulling its popular YouTube video service from Amazon's Fire TV and Echo Show devices in an escalating feud that has caught consumers in the crossfire.

FireTV is now sans YouTube, and while Chromecast can view Amazon Prime, it's not as easy to access as other channels. As you might know Nest is now a Google subsidiary.

It is now unclear why Amazon chose to reduce its audio quality in its Apple TV app to PCM stereo. On those devices, Google's YouTube and Play services often get prominent billing in search results, but at least you can get Amazon video.

In a statement to Variety, an Amazon rep said: "Google is setting a disappointing precedent by selectively blocking customer access to an open website".
