John Dorsey: Browns Are 'Iconic' Franchise; 'Let's Reawake This Sleeping Giant'

While Browns are now looking to finish 2017-18 on a high note, yet another No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick is likely on the horizon for the struggling AFC North franchise.

John Dorsey, with 26 years in football personnel on his resume, is the Browns' new general manager. He was able to piece together a very talented roster in Kansas City, reversing course quickly after having the NFL's overall worst record in 2012 to competing in the playoffs almost every season he was in K.C.

Prior to being hired by the Chiefs, he spent the majority of his professional career in various executive roles with the Green Bay Packers.

This is an outstanding hire for the Browns.

Dorsey is the most experienced person with a front-office background the Browns have had in their front office since returning to the National Football League in 1999. "We are thrilled to have John Dorsey lead our football operations", began owner Jimmy Halsam's statement, "Bringing in someone of John Dorsey's caliber, his track record of success and his experience, significantly strengthens our opportunities to build a winning football team and that has been, and continues to be, what we want for our fans".

Amazon Prime Video now available on Apple TV
Amazon kicked the Chromecast, Google's television player, off its retail website in 2015, along with Apple Inc's TV player. FireTV is now sans YouTube, and while Chromecast can view Amazon Prime , it's not as easy to access as other channels.

However, the Browns did get their man. Dorsey is a respected talent evaluator and he has a lot to work with.

The Browns announced Thursday they would keep Hue Jackson as their coach at least through the 2018 season. Instead, Brown and his staff went home early and didn't file the paperwork for the reported McCarron trade.

One win in two seasons cost Sashi Brown his job with the Browns.

But in the Browns' search for a general manager, did they fail to comply with the Rooney Rule?

Jackson being safe at this time is something of a surprise given the context of the winless campaign but, in the end, it appears that Cleveland's leadership decided it was the roster, not the coaching, that is dooming the Browns at this point. "Hopefully, I am still a part of that, which I am, and hopefully, our players that are here, a year from now, hopefully, we can get this thing to where it needs to be".
