Mesut Ozil scored with a fine strike as Arsenal toiled to a 1-0 victory over struggling Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday.

Özil's contract with Arsenal ends this summer and Arsenal fans are anxious about losing their midfielder.

The former Barcelona attacker clearly does not want to ply his trade at the Emirates Stadium, and the player only has a few months left on his contract at Arsenal.

But Wenger insisted: "I believe he wants to stay". But at the moment, it's very hard.

Why David Silva misses Manchester City's clash against Tottenham
The most important thing is to talk, to design the plan for everyone and then be happy everyone because life is about enjoying and being happy.

"I would had preferred it if we were more comfortable on the score line, but it was important we got the three points today".

But Wenger feels Ozil is now playing the best football he has seen from the World Cup victor since he joined. Meanwhile, Gunners stopper Cech thinks that Ozil's current form despite the doubts over his future is a credit to his character. He takes his responsibilities and that is what you want from him. He is more mature, he guides the team very well, he does a lot on the ball and your heart rate always goes down when he has the ball.

Next up for Arsenal is a Carabao Cup quarter-final against West Ham before Liverpool visit north London on Friday night.

The Seagulls, who have not won in the league since beating Swansea City 1-0 away on November 4 and who have only scored one goal in their last six games, began slowly but went on to dominate the first half. "But we have played three games in six days and the third game is a bit more hard physically". We need to make sure this time we are ready.
