CES 2018: Acer's new Swift 7 measures only 8.98mm thin

Meanwhile, Acer also announced updated models of the Nitro 5 and the convertible Spin 3 (laptop-cum-tablet) along with fan-less Acer Switch 7 laptop and the ridiculously over-the-top 18-core Acer Predator Orion 9000 gaming PC (Intel Core i9).

The Switch 7 Black Edition comes with a new kickstand mechanism. The Swift 7 will debut in March for $1699, while the new Nitro 5 notebooks will appear in May with a starting price of $799. Then the laptop will be made available in EMEA in April with a starting price tag of 1,699 Euros (approximately Rs. 1,29,329). It is called Swift 7 (SF714-51) and is only 8.98 mm thick. The ultra-thin laptop sports a seventh-generation Intel Core-i7 processor, though it would have been nice if Acer equipped it with the latest eight-gen Core-i7 processor. The laptop has a nano-sim card slot as well. Acer Swift 7 is not cheap either. A fully backlit keyboard finds place beneath the display, packing along a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello. This laptop is just 8.98 mm thin, runs on Windows 10 and boasts of all-day battery life.

The new Swift 7 has slimmer bezels around the screen, compared to the predecessor. It has 14-inch display which supports vivid imagery in Full HD with IPS technology.

Acer's Jerry Kao says that the company is "extremely proud" of creating the world's thinnest laptop. In addition to that, Acer is also bringing improvements to the Nitro 5 and Spin 3. Memory comes in at 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 256GB of PCIe SSD storage. As far as connectivity is concerned, it has two USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 ports and two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, other than this it comes with Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi 802.11ac 2x2 MIMO. The WASD keys can be outlined with brighter backlighting and CPU and GPU temps can be monitored with NitroSense software though, so there's that (heh).

Trump administration proposes $18b for border wall extension
Trump said a year ago that he was ending DACA but gave Congress until March to deliver a legislative fix. As you know, we're negotiating NAFTA. "But yes, in some form, Mexico will pay for the wall".

Among Taiwanese companies participating in the Computer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this month, ACER is getting a lot of attention for unveiling three major market items for the year all at once.

AMD Radeon RX560 graphics and AMD Ryzen processors, and up to 32GB of LPDDR4 RAM help power high-end gaming on the go.

It should last around 10 hours before requiring a charge too, making it a great choice for customers on the move. There is also an HDR camera to enable video conference. There's a touch (CB311-8HT) and non-touch (CB311-8h) version, with both supporting Android apps via the Google Play Store. It'll go on sale in March for a whopping $1,699 (around £1,250). Now most laptops are playing the premium market.
