Google's Free Museum App Will Match You With Your Famous Art Doppelgänger

The app became the top downloaded iPhone app over the weekend, and landed in the top 10 on Android, according to analytics firm App Annie. The app will then reveal your famous portrait twin, and provide a percentage of just how good the match is. By taking a selfie in-app, Arts & Culture searches its database to find a portrait who best matches your own face.

It's now only available in the U.S. As it is an experimental feature, it might be witnessing a gradual rollout to other regions.

Again, pretty simple. The app's selfie camera will pop up and there's a clear "Take a photo" button at the bottom of the screen for when you're ready to cheese. It then compares your face to thousands of pieces of art hanging in museums to find your match. After that's done, you're matched with several paintings, in a variety of artistic styles, that have an essence of your looks. Some have been amazed finding their doppelgänger from the past, some are finding the results downright hilarious. But there's one feature in particular that has people excited right now, and started a viral social media trend that has picked up some serious steam over the past few days.

Kenya Airways announces its inaugural direct flight to US
"This is an exciting moment for us", says Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Sebastian Mikosz . Mikosz revealed the carrier will continue to modernise its fleet though its 32 aircraft are some of the youngest in Africa.

It is not the first time an app has attempted to gain interest through merging visual art with everyday images.

A new feature in the Google Arts & Culture app reveals how your selfie may resemble a historical painting.

Google's Arts and Culture app is now making waves on the internet and trending heavily in the app store- yesterday claiming the #1 spot in the App Store for the United States. The initiative today incorporates work from over thousands of museums from across 70 countries.
