For the unintended, audiobooks are an exact word-for-word version of books, which allows users to listen to them on a music player, smartphone etc.

All that remains is for Google to flip the switch on its end and you'll be able to feed your audiobook obsession through Google Play.

People who are fond of reading and are just not able to find time to actually sit down and open a book have begun preferring audio books. Now, it seems that audiobooks are all set to join the list.

The company has teased a banner promoting the arrival of audiobooks. Furthermore, the banner ads itself shows that the initial batch of users will get additional 50% discount on the purchase of their popular Audiobooks from the Play Store for a respective e-book reader device. For now, the Banner Ads of Google Play Store's Audiobooks present a 404 error page while visiting the given URL of the ads.

Besides, sales of audiobooks seem to have gone up in recent years, and Google having its own dedicated storefront will give it some ground to capture if not all but some portion of sales. Also, it is not clear if the search giant is planning to add Google audiobooks to both the Google Play Store and Google Play Music. All the reports suggest that, the giant will soon come up with this dedicated Audiobooks section on the Play Store sometime this quarter. However, the section is not live yet and there is no specific mention of when the content will be available for purchase for the masses. It would be logical for the company to move all the audiobooks to the Google Play Store. Do share your thoughts and opinions in front of us.
