Two students dead, 17 injured in US school shooting at Kentucky

Another 12 people were shot and five suffered other injuries during Tuesday's shooting, which happened at the start of the school day.

That dispatcher reports that there is only one shooter who is still on the scene and that there is a non-responsive victim.

Marshall County High had 1,300 students in the 2014-2015 school year, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. One business owner said that they were running and crying and screaming. "They were trying to get out of there". Details about the suspect are not clear. Marshall County has a population of about 31,000 people. "Even though we don't think it would happen here, it'll definitely be a wake up call for our community, as well", Cartwright said.

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin said there is no reason to suspect anyone else in an act of violence that rocked the small town of Benton.

Bevin later tweeted out a statement on the shooting asking people to "love on each other at this time". "Do not speculate, but come alongside each other in support and allow the facts to come out". A 16-year-old opened fire in the cafeteria, police said, wounding a 15-year-old girl who was airlifted to a Dallas hospital.

Top seed Halep hails 'new Simona' after epic
The match lasted just under 3 hours and 45 minutes, and Halep's 4-6, 6-4, 15-13 win saved the women's draw from crumbling. Her score against former top-10 player Andrea Petkovic of Germany in the second round was 4-6, 6-0, 6-0.

The scene has been secured, the state police said. Authorities are not yet releasing the names of anyone involved, citing an ongoing investigation, but added they believe everyone involved was a student.

Three of the teenaged victims had gunshot wounds to the head, one to the arm, and another to the chest and stomach, according to Oscar Guillamondegui, M.D., MPH, Medical Director of Trauma ICU. "And our gratitude is with the first responders who rush into harm's way".

The slain victims were a boy and a girl, both 15, state police said. I'm sure that Sandy Hook and other places feel the same way, but yet we're nearly jaded because there's so many.

"The SRO that was assigned to the school went through a tough time this morning", Sanders said, but did not provide further information on the officer's actions during the shooting.

Neshoba Central officials did not want to give us specifics on their active shooter procedures for safety reasons, but the school says they are prepared.
