United States assumptions about China's nuclear development absurd

Iran says the move is in violation of the global nuclear non-proliferation treaty and claims it has brought the world closer to annihilation.

The US, which possesses the world's largest nuclear weapons arsenal, should conform to the irreversible world trend of peace and development rather than run in the opposite direction, state-run Xinhua news agency quoted Ren as saying.

The CIA chief who is a former hard-line Republican congressman also cited efforts by the Chinese to steal United States commercial information and infiltration of schools and hospitals - and this extended to Europe and the UK.

The Chinese Defense Ministry today rejected the revision of the nuclear strategy announced by the United States, whose government considered that China is a possible adversary in Asia that can take advantage of its atomic weapons.

Washington also considered China a possible nuclear adversary and noted that the United States arsenal is created to "prevent Beijing from mistakenly concluding" that it can take advantage if it uses its atomic weapons in Asia, or that "the use of nuclear weapons on a limited scale is acceptable".

The US defence department's Nuclear Posture Review released on Friday outlines the Pentagon's nuclear ambitions under President Donald Trump, while spelling out how it foresees nuclear threats in the coming decades.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif earlier warned in a tweet that the USA policy document posed the risk of "bringing humankind closer to annihilation".

As the ambassador for GPE, her work has led her to travel the world to raise funds for schooling in poor communities. She reportedly travelled on the same South African Airways flight as World Bank President Jim Yong Kim .

The Pentagon document, which is largely in line with the previous review in 2010, said the USA would modify a small number of submarine-launched ballistic missile warheads with low-yield options. Low-yield weapons with a strength of under 20 kilotons are less powerful but are still devastating.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed "deep disappointment" at the plan.

This U.S. Navy handout image shows Baker, the second of the two atomic bomb tests, in which a 63-kiloton warhead was exploded 90 feet under water as part of Operation Crossroads, conducted at Bikini Atoll in July 1946. Modifying some submarine-launched nuclear warheads to give a lower-yield detonation.

What is the new U.S. policy?

China has voiced its firm opposition to the new United States nuclear strategy that outlines plans to expand the country's nuclear capabilities.

China yesterday criticized a US government report that cast Beijing as a potential nuclear adversary and called on Washington to reduce its own much larger arsenal and join in promoting regional stability. Past year it said that Washington's defense strategy tied to "outdated notions".

The document also says China continues to increase the number, capabilities and protection of its nuclear forces.
