Another day, another delay for Shiffrin, other Alpine skiers

On February 4, Shiffrin tweeted she could not wait for her first event, but all Shiffrin has done is wait as high winds have caused several events be postponed.

On Tuesday, the accomplished American can keep her streak alive with a gold medal performance in the Alpine slalom at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Both the Women's Giant Slalom and Men's Downhill are now taking place tomorrow.

The dominant figure in the technical events on the women's World Cup circuit, in which she heads the overall standings with 10 wins, including five in slalom, the 22-year-old is a strong favorite.

"Well, it compresses the schedule, so it makes for a more hectic five, six days as we approach into the speed events", USA women's head coach Paul Kristofic said.

She is expected to be one of the superstars of the next two weeks, considered a medal favourite in slalom and giant slalom, a strong contender in the combined and a possible entrant in the other two women's individual races, the downhill and super-G. Three straight days of racing - and the pomp and circumstance that come with it - would be followed by three downhill training sessions, and then the downhill race on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

This is the third race that has been moved due to weather.

If the winds die down, the gold medal is set to be decided at the Yongpyong Alpine Centre, with reigning champion Mikaela Shiffrin of the United States hotly tipped to prevail.

Mr Sorensen's position did not require a security clearance and that his background check had not been completed. White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley adamantly denied that Kelly had offered to resign in any way.

Video of the slalom hill showed that it was a complete whiteout, making the decision to put off the event look wise.

Wednesday, February 14 Women's Slalom TBD Thursday, February 15 Women's Slalom TBD Friday, February 16 Women's Super-G 9 p.m.

The postponement of the women's slalom, which will now take place on Friday, meant three of the four Alpine events scheduled so far have not taken place on their original date. Already facing a bit of a time crunch because of all of the weather issues, organizers kept pushing back the first run of the two-run slalom until eventually deciding to call it off about an hour after the start time.

"It was a long and hard day today", said the former Norwegian racer, twice a super-G world champion.

Skaardal added that FIS had "a very good opportunity" of hosting the two women's races on "favourable days for the forecast".

Mikaela Shiffrin has been claiming world championships since she was 17 years old.

She won gold in the event in 2014 at the age of 18.
