Their final visit with brother Billy Graham: 'Now he's coming home'

President George H.W. Bush invited him to pray at the White House in 1991 for guidance through the first long day of the Gulf War.

His 60-year long career came to an end in 2005 when Billy Graham retired by preaching his last message in NY titled "The Cross-Billy Graham's message to America" at the age of 86.

He made a rare public appearance in 2010 for the re-dedication event of the renovated Billy Graham Library despite significant vision and hearing loss. "He had a powerful, captivating presence and a keen mind", Bush said in a statement.

Vice President, Mike Pence, offered condolences to the Graham family, saying that the evangelist's "matchless voice changed the lives of millions".

Billy Graham, the Christian evangelist loved by many, has died at the age of 99. He connected with additional disciples through the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association - a media and film conglomerate.

In 2014, I had the privilege of talking with Graham's grandson, Will, who was in town to pave the way for the Rev. Franklin Graham to preach at Jacksonville's Greater Jacksonville Festival of Hope the following year.

"Billy Graham finished faithfully", continued Pittenger.

Antonio Conte: We were 'very close to the ideal game'
The away goal could make it very hard for Antonio Conte's team to progress, as the Catalan giants are formidable opponents on home soil.

Billy's answer: "He tried to do what he thought he should".

Graham also said the queen is "unquestionably one of the best-informed people on world affairs" he's ever met, and he "found her highly intelligent and knowledgeable about a wide variety of issues, not just politics". "This morning, as he arrived at the heavenly shores, I'm sure he heard, 'Welcome home, Billy'".

From the gangly 16-year-old baseball-loving teen who found Christ at a tent revival, Graham went on to become an global media darling, a preacher to a dozen presidents and the voice of solace in times of national heartbreak.

In 2002, Graham apologised after the release of secretly recorded tapes from 1972 in which he and Richard Nixon, who was President at the time, agreed liberal Jews dominated the United States news media. "And I wondered if he really knew we were there".

"I'm grateful for the opportunities God gave me to minister to people in high places; people in power have spiritual and personal needs like everyone else, and often they have no one to talk to", he said.

Looking back on Graham's life and career, scholars now see a rare historical figure who brought together a radical mix of old-time religion and modern sensibilities.

"Once, when visiting the royal family at Sandringham in 1984, Ruth and I walked past a woman wearing an old raincoat, Wellingtons, and a scarf; she was bent over fixing some food for the dogs", Graham wrote. Through his Crusades, he introduced Jesus Christ to vast numbers of people who otherwise would have no knowledge of the Christian faith.
