The latest lawsuit however has been filed by Arne Wilberg, who worked at Google and its YouTube unit for about nine years both as a contractor and an employee.

To help prove his allegations, Wilberg included a screenshot of a Google tracking system - which was subsequently deleted - that kept track of candidates' gender and race, pointing out that the company had not reached their goals in respect to hiring female, black and Latinx candidates. He also claims that Google retaliated against him for opposing these policies, eventually firing him in November 2017.

His manager, Allison Alogna, informed Wilberg and his colleagues that they were to "only accept" Level 3 engineers if they were diverse.

"For the past several years, Google has had and implemented clear and irrefutable policies, memorialized in writing and consistently implemented in practice, of systematically discriminating in favor [of] job applicants who are Hispanic, African American, or female, and against Caucasian and Asian men", the lawsuit claimed.

Google said it would defend itself.

Last month Google was hit with another discrimination lawsuit after Tim Chevalier alleged he was sacked for his liberal political activism whilst working for the company. The former staffer said Google - YouTube's parent company - invoked "clear and irrefutable policies" meant to exclude white and Asian men in hopes of increasing the brand's diversity last spring.

Wilberg's lawsuit alleges that since 2016, YouTube recruiters were instructed to hit hiring quotas for "diversity candidates", and in the first quarter of 2016 were tasked with hiring five new employees each from underrepresented groups.

After Damore was terminated, he and another white engineer filed a discrimination lawsuit against his former employer.

Damore, however, is going ahead with the class-action lawsuit against the search giant where he is determined to prove the discrimination against white conservative men. In August 2017, the Guardian revealed that more than 60 current and former Google employees were considering bringing a lawsuit against the company, alleging sexism and pay disparities against women. Employment lawyers explain to the Journal that while it's permissible for companies to try to boost diversity in its ranks, they can't hire based on race or gender, meaning quotas are off-limits.

All of this might come as a shock to anyone who hasn't been paying attention to the firing of Google engineer James Damore past year.
