Jaguar reveals electric I-Pace SUV

In the coming year, Jaguar is launching two more crossovers to join the F-Pace: the tiny E-Pace (that is about the size of an Audi Q3) and this, the I-Pace, which splits the difference in size, but establishes a whole new branch in the family tree as the first electric vehicle in Jaguar's history. As predicted, motors at each axle promise all-wheel drive performance, but now we know that their combined 394 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque will scoot the sizeable I-Pace from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.

Jaguar adds that while in terms of exterior dimensions a mid-sized SUV, the I-Pace will offer interior space to compared with larger SUV rivals.

That pairing is enough to give the I-Pace an all-electric range of 298 miles and impressive performance - with 0-60mph taking just 4.5 seconds.

A 7kW wall charger will fully rejuvenate the I-Pace in 10 hours - making it a great option for overnight fill-ups.

There's also smart technology in the onboard computing system, which will use artificial intelligence to tailor the vehicle to individual driver preferences, and receive wireless software updates.

Available to order now, the I-Pace is offered in four trim levels - S, SE, HSE and First Edition - and has a starting price of £63,495.

The new auto has a range of up to 298 miles and will cost from £63,495 before any government grants are taken into account. Boot capacity is 656 liters, and it grows to 1,453 liters with the seats folded flat.

United States to open Jerusalem embassy in May, marking Israel's 70th anniversary
Last month, Vice President Mike Pence told the Israeli Parliament that the new embassy would open "before the end of next year". The Palestine Liberation Organisation immediately decried Washington's embassy announcement as a "provocation to all Arabs".

The interior is a futuristic take on traditional Jaguar.

Artificial intelligence is used to predict the car's range based on your commute, the weather, battery charge status, and your driving style as measured on previous journeys.

With a 50kW DC rapid charger - the kind found at most public charging stations - the I-Pace can achieve up to 270km of range per hour. The vehicle is also equipped with Alexa skills that work with the Jaguar InControl Remote App for smartphones.

Available to order now, it will be priced from £63,495 in the United Kingdom (excluding government incentives).

Although pricing hasn't yet been announced, Jaguar will begin delivering the I-PACE to US customers during the second half of 2019.

Jaguar says that the I-PACE will start at $87,000. EV navigation will work intuitively with the driver's tendencies and factor in route topography to determine battery range. The I-Pace will be the first Jaguar to update its software over-the-air.

Inside the cabin the I-Pace is luxurious and practical - rear legroom is 35 inches (890 millimeters), and premium materials are all around: Luxtec and Grained leather, optional textile Kvadrat that's mostly eco thanks to the use of a durable wool blend mixed with recycled technical suede cloth.
