Kidd, Nash, Hill among HOF inductees

Victoria, BC's Steve Nash, fellow point guard Jason Kidd and Grant Hill are headed to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Per ESPN, other finalists for induction into the Hall of Fame are Ray Allen, Chris Webber, Charles Driesell, Rudy Tomjanovich, Baylor coach Kim Mulkey, Katie Smith, Tina Thompson, longtime National Basketball Association official Hugh Evans and the 1953-58 Wayland Baptist University teams.

Maurice Cheeks will also be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018, sources told Wojnarowski. A formal announcement will happen during Final Four weekend, per Woj.

Kidd and Nash rank second and third in career assists. He earned four first-team All-Defensive team honors and four All-Star appearances with the Philadelphia 76ers. The 112.7 points per 100 possessions his 2009-10 Suns averaged were more than any team scored in 30 years until Golden State averaged 115.2 per 100 possessions two seasons ago.

Nash, a two-time MVP with Phoenix in 2005 and 2006, was a first-round pick by the Suns in 1996 and played for Phoenix from 1996-98, then again from 2004-12 after a run with the Dallas Mavericks.

Smith, Warner, Bancroft sent home, Lehmann stays as coach
Questions also remain over coach Darren Lehmann and how much he knew of the conspiracy and when. Tim Paine has officially been appointed captain, at least for the fourth Test match.

Jason Kidd is undoubtedly one of the greatest passers in the history of the game, and controlled the game from the point guard position in mercurial fashion over his 19 year career.

The 1995 NBA rookie of the year made seven All Star teams and earned one All NBA first team selection despite a career ravaged with injuries.

Nash ultimately finished with 10,335 assists and is ninth all-time with 8.5 assists per game.

It is unclear whether any of the other nine finalists, who include Ray Allen, Chris Webber and Rudy Tomjanovich, were selected for the Hall of Fame.
