Scott Walker warns of Dem wave in Wisconsin

"Big government special interests flooded Wisconsin with distorted facts & misinformation".

She defeated Screnock 57 percent to 42 percent. Democrats hailed the win as another sign of momentum for liberals this year.

Both candidates were backed by partisans. Dallet was supported by labor and teacher unions, most of the state's judges and a host of current and former Democratic officeholders. Walker had endorsed Screnock.

He also said it's where she won that made a difference.

The vacancy on the court was created by Justice Michael Gableman's decision not to seek a second term.

Although conservatives still hold a 4-3 majority in the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Walker said Dallet's victory is bad news for Wisconsin's political future.

Screnock ended up raising just over $1 million for his own campaign, including $417,846 from the Republican Party of Wisconsin. Screnock must also repeat Prosser's wins in counties like Brown (6,103-vote margin) and Outagamie (5,908-vote margin) and in Milwaukee-area suburban counties like Ozaukee (12,556-vote margin). Conservatives have done a good job at winning seats one by one. The race has drawn national interest and campaign donations.

President Trump won the state by less than 1 percentage point in 2016. The race is the first statewide general election contest in the country this year.

Dallet has been a Milwaukee County circuit judge since 2008 and prior to that was a prosecutor for more than a decade.

Fraley said his party needed to understand that the "honeymoon" was over after sweeping Wisconsin's elections in 2016.

Liberal candidate Rebecca Dallet is taking on conservative Michael Screnock for a 10-year term on the court. The party labels will be on the ballot in November, encouraging stronger voter turnout. There, the longtime executive director of Common Cause saw something quite rare for a spring election - a line. President Donald Trump, they said, was hanging over the race, motivating people who typically did not show up for April elections to come to the polls.

And hopefully, I end up on top. "I get asked about it every day out here on the range or walking down the fairway", Johnson said. But this week may prove to be a unique challenge for Tiger Tracker given Augusta National's strict policy on mobile phones.

The National Rifle Association has endorsed Screnock.

Reports state that it is the first time since 1995 that a liberal candidate won a race for an open seat on the court.

"There was just great motivation on the part of people who were not comfortable with the status quo", Heck reflects.

November's election will be different that Tuesday in at least two ways.

"There's an very bad lot of folks that are going to vote in November that we didn't see at the polls yesterday", Franklin said. "But there's been a year and a half of activism, getting people organized and excited before this race".

Turnout was considerably high for a spring election as well.

Before becoming a judge at the County Circuit Court, Dallet served as an assistant district attorney with the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office and as an adjunct professor of law at Marquette University Law School. She said she voted conservative "100 percent".

Screnock was appointed judge by Walker in 2015.

Both candidates argued the other couldn't be trusted to serve as an independent voice on the state's highest court.
