'Smallville' actress Mack arrested in sex-trafficking case

She and Raniere deny the charges against them. "The victims were then exploited, both sexually and for their labour, to the defendants' benefit".

Last month (Mar18), NXIVM co-founder Keith Raniere was arrested in Mexico and extradited to the USA on sex trafficking and forced labour counts, amid allegations suggesting he created a sub-group, called Dominus Obsequious Sororium (DOS), in which women were forced to perform sex acts for their male masters.

An award-winning United States actress, best known for her role in hit Superman TV series "Smallville" has appeared in court charged with recruiting women for an alleged sex cult.

If found guilty, both Ms Mack and Mr Raniere face at least 15 years in prison, according to the BBC.

Allison Mack, 35, who was arrested Friday, recruited women for what was described as a female mentorship group, U.S. attorney Richard Donoghue said in a statement from the Justice Department.

The Ford F-150 diesel hits 30 mpg highway
Even better is the estimated 8L/100 km the Ford can achieve on the highway, bettering the 8.8L/100 km rating of the Ram diesel . High fuel economy, historically the most compelling factor for diesel auto owners, hasn't been as big a pull for truck owners.

"In my opinion, NXIVM is one of the most extreme groups I have ever dealt with in the sense of how tightly wound it is around the leader", cult expert Rick Ross told the Times-Union in 2012. According to authorities, he manipulated women into a master-slave sexual relationship, forcing them to follow strict diets and respond to his call whenever they were summoned. Raniere was previously arrested on a complaint and ordered detained. There is no set date for his arraignment yet.

Mack is allegedly his second in command. She was scheduled to appear in court later Friday. Apparently, the victims were coaxed into posing naked for photos, which Mack used as blackmail materials. Prosecutors said recruits were forced to have sex with Raniere and were branded with his initials.

Women were told the organization would help then get rid of their weaknesses, and Raniere's position was not revealed to new recruits. She and Rainere reportedly threatened the members with serious harm if they did not perform labour services.

Mack starred in the CW Network series as Chloe Sullivan from 2001 to 2011, and has been in a handful of television series roles since, according to her IMDB page. She was reportedly recruited by her TV co-star Kristin Kreuk, who played Lana Lang in the series.

The Rochester Democrat & Chronicle said Mack was indicted "for her role in DOS, a group. that purported to be a women's empowerment sorority". She also said that she never experienced any illegal activities while she was an active member.
