Nearly 100 sick as romaine lettuce-linked E. coli outbreak continues

They added that everyone needs to take precautions as those sickened throughout the outbreak range in age from the very young to very old, with a median age of 31 years.

The issue began when federal inspectors traced the outbreak back to the Yuma, Arizona, region, a robust area of a state that is responsible for a lot of the produce that we eat across the country. This is not a time to be tailoring the message to risk groups.

Nationwide, 46 people have been hospitalized, including 10 with kidney failure, which is an unusually high number of hospitalizations, according to health officials.

Romaine lettuce isn't packaged or sold with clear identification of where it was produced, so unless you have a bed of romaine heads in your backyard, the CDC has asked you not to eat romaine lettuce whatsoever.

"E. coli and things like that are normally caused by fault production and not having clean facilities for washing your produce", said Jeb Bush, Forsyth Farmer's Market. FDA and CDC investigation is ongoing and we have been told includes all parts of the supply chain. "It's coming to an end in Arizona", Pappaioanou said, so the average person may have a hard time figuring out from which area a lettuce meal came.

Pennsylvania has seen the worst of the outbreak, with 18 people being infected by the lettuce.

Khan even mentioned as much straight away after last night's fight. "I came and signed with Matchroom, I'm the one chasing Kell". Brook looked impressive in his return fight earlier this year too, mind you. "Brook's been living off my name for a long time".

Currently, there is no link between this strain and the one in Canada from December 2017, which sickened at least 17 people, officials said. Panera Bread put a notice on their app, reading, 'A CDC public consumer notice has advised restaurants to stop selling romaine lettuce from Yuma, Arizona.

The CDC says people should not be eating or buying romaine lettuce unless they know for a fact that it is not from Yuma, AZ.

All types of romaine lettuce, including whole heads, hearts, chopped romaine, salads and salad mixes may be contaminated.

This E. coli outbreak is now the largest since 2006, when more than 200 people fell ill after eating contaminated spinach.

Up until now, health problems consist of 18 cases in Pennsylvania, 16 cases in California, 10 in Idaho, 8 cases each in Alaska and Montana, 7 in New Jersey, 5 cases each in Arizona and Washington, 3 cases each in MI and OH, 2 cases each in Colorado, Connecticut and NY, and a single case each in Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin. You would then experience severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea, vomiting and low fever.
